How TWICE ages compare with other groups
TWICE members were born between 1995 and 1999, which puts them in the same generation as groups like SEVENTEEN and slightly older than many of today’s fourth- and fifth-generation groups, whose members were often born in the 2000s. After a decade together, TWICE is now one of the longest-running and most successful girl groups in K-pop.
TWICE’s first ten years, by age
TWICE spent its first decade releasing hit after hit, from the early bright pop of Like Ooh-Ahh and Cheer Up to more mature concepts like Fancy and Feel Special. The group’s music grew up with the members. When they debuted, the average age was around 18. By their tenth anniversary in 2025, most members were in their late twenties.
| Year | Group milestone | Age range of members |
|---|---|---|
| 2015 | Debut with Like Ooh-Ahh | 16 to 20 |
| 2016 | Cheer Up becomes a national hit | 17 to 21 |
| 2019 | Fancy marks a more mature image | 20 to 24 |
| 2022 | Nayeon’s solo debut, world stadium tours | 23 to 27 |
| 2025 | Tenth anniversary | 26 to 30 |
That table shows one of the reasons long-running groups are special: fans watch the members grow from teenagers into adults across their songs, concerts and variety shows.
Korean age vs international age for TWICE
Under the old Korean age system, everyone was one year old at birth and added a year on January 1. That made TWICE members look one or two years older in early profiles. For example, Tzuyu, born in June 1999, would have been counted as 17 in Korean age at debut, while she was actually 16. Since 2023 South Korea uses international age officially, and so do we.
Quick way to convert
- Start from the international age shown on this page
- Add one year if the member has already had their birthday this year
- Add two years if their birthday hasn’t happened yet
- That gives the old-style Korean age, if you ever need it
How to calculate a TWICE member’s age
Subtract the birth year from the current year, then subtract one more if the birthday hasn’t come yet this year. For Nayeon, born on September 22, 1995, that means she turned 31 on September 22, 2026. The live chart above does this automatically every time you open the page.
Why TWICE ages matter to fans
For ONCE, birthdays are big events. Fans organize cafe events, subway ads and online trends for each member’s birthday, and the group often celebrates together on live streams. Knowing exactly how old each member is turning helps fans plan those celebrations and write birthday messages.
Ages also matter for understanding the group’s history. When TWICE debuted, two members were only 16 and still in high school. Watching them grow into confident performers, songwriters and soloists in their late twenties is part of what makes the group’s story so meaningful to long-time fans.
